I hope the thousands of educators that attended ISTE 2013 have enjoyed their summer with Surface RT.

Surface RT is one of most thoughtfully designed mobile devices available today. It is just the right balance of play and then work. Since the Surface RT release ten months ago, Microsoft has been making rapid updates to make Surface better everyday. Now, we are on the verge of the most significant update since the Windows 8 launch–the release of Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.

Windows 8.1 continues the original vision of Windows 8 and brings a raft of new features and improvements. There are many great videos that have been published on the Windows 8.1 release, so I will not recount them here. I will share that the Windows RT 8.1 and Windows 8.1 updates will be made available through the Windows Store for free. That means that in October, all of our ISTE 2013 Surface RT educators will be able to download the free update to their Surface RT device.

In the meantime, we have some exciting content being developed just for Surface RT. Stay tuned into my twitter handle @EDUCTO to get the latest information. Watch the video below to Jensen Harris show just a itsy bitsy bit of the new features in Windows 8.1.

Welcome back to school!
