Make Learning EPIC!

We have until the year 2020 to reshape, recast, and remix education in the United States.

Marinate on that for a moment.

If we maintain the status quo in our schools we will lose another generation.  This is the generation where minority student populations will shift to being a majority student populations in our cities and towns and in schools and universities. As a nation, we need the smartest minds available to help meet our domestic and global challenges.

For a long time, school leaders, the private sector businesses, and policy-makers have been looking for the one quintessential solution that can be scaled to all schools. It does not exist. Education, like politics, is local needs-based with local context. However, we have reached a point where technology gives us the tools and capabilities to differentiate based on need and context at scale. We call this “mass differentiation.”

Microsoft has been fortunate to serve and empower billions of people around the world with information technology. Every person with interact with is unique and uses technology in differently. In service to our global community in over 150 countries, we have learned a lot about mass differentiation with modern technology. This long history and experience gives Microsoft a unique voice for advancing the state of education in our classrooms.

This blog is a conversation on what works (and what might work) to empower the current generation of learners that are in our schools and universities today. Microsoft has long believe that education is the cornerstone to free and prospering society. The voices you experience on this blog share that belief. We are working with education leaders to improve our schools. These are the stories and experiences of our shared journey.
